Starting this Monday, eligible voters across Germany can cast their ballots for the Bundestag via postal voting. Postal voting stations are now open, and election documents are being distributed nationwide.

In some districts of Berlin, ballot papers were sent out as early as last week. According to Berlin’s state election officer, Stephan Bröchler, around 603,000 Berliners—roughly a quarter of the 2.4 million eligible voters—have applied for postal voting since notifications were issued on January 13.

To be counted, ballots must reach the designated office by 6 p.m. on election Sunday. The federal government advises sending ballots at least three working days before the election, which is set for February 23, 2025.
