Popular comedian Samay Raina has taken down all videos related to the reality show India’s Got Latent. He cited overwhelming pressure following a heated controversy. The controversy involved YouTuber and influencer Ranveer Allahbadia. The move comes after Allahbadia’s remarks about parents and sex on the show’s latest episode sparked a social media uproar. This led to widespread criticism. It also faced legal scrutiny.
Ranveer Allahbadia has over 16 million followers across various platforms. He found himself at the center of a firestorm after clips from the episode went viral. Many online users called for action against him, questioning the boundaries of humor and public decency. As the backlash intensified, Allahbadia issued a public apology. He acknowledged that his comment was a “lapse in judgment.” He admitted that comedy was not his strong suit.
Meanwhile, Samay Raina, who is now under investigation by the Maharashtra Cyber Department, expressed distress over the situation.
“Everything that has unfolded recently has been too much for me to process. In light of this, I have decided to remove all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My intent has always been to bring joy and laughter to my audience. I am fully cooperating with the authorities to ensure a fair inquiry. Thank you all for your support,” Raina posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Authorities have now launched an investigation into the show. They have issued summons to multiple individuals associated with its production. These include guests and judges from previous episodes. An official revealed that the police had registered a case under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act. They directed producers to take down all 18 episodes from digital platforms.
The controversy has ignited a broader debate on freedom of speech, censorship, and the evolving standards of digital content moderation. Preliminary findings suggest that explicit language and controversial remarks were not isolated incidents. They had been a recurring theme in earlier episodes of the show.
As legal proceedings unfold, the incident raises critical questions. These include the responsibility of online influencers and content creators in shaping public discourse. They must balance creative expression with ethical boundaries.
