Germany has decided: Friedrich Merz and the CDU/CSU have emerged as the clear winners of the 2025 federal election!

With around 29 percent of the vote, the Union has secured a decisive lead. Shortly after 6:30 PM, a relieved Merz declared: “CDU and CSU, we have won this 2025 federal election!” The announcement was met with huge cheers at CDU headquarters.

Merz wasted no time in rallying his party: “Now it’s time for Rambo-Zambo!”—signaling that work will begin immediately.

Meanwhile, the SPD is facing disaster. Chancellor Olaf Scholz and his party have been voted out, and the traffic light coalition has collapsed.

Die ARD-Hochrechnungen (ZDF-Hochrechnungen):

  • CDU/CSU: 28,8 Prozent (28,5 %)
  • AFD: 20,2 Prozent (20,1 %)
  • SPD: 16,2 Prozent (16,3 %)
  • Die GrĂŒnen: 12,7 Prozent (12,4 %)
  • Die Linke: 8,5 Prozent (8,7 %)
  • FDP: 4,9 Prozent (4,9 %)
  • BSW: 4,8 Prozent (5 %)

What This Means

✅ Triumph for Friedrich Merz – The CDU leader will be Germany’s next chancellor. His party has made significant gains compared to the 2021 election (24.1%).
✅ CDU/CSU dominate the field, leaving the AfD in second place.
❌ SPD loses power – Olaf Scholz is out, and the traffic light coalition is officially over.

With this result, Germany is entering a new political era under the leadership of Friedrich Merz.
