Traveling to Jamaica with his team: Lionel Messi (RICH STORRY)

After missing three consecutive matches, Lionel Messi is poised to make his return to Inter Miami. According to head coach Javier Mascherano, the Argentine star will accompany the team to Jamaica for their upcoming fixture. Inter Miami is set to face Cavalier FC in the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup round of 16 on Thursday evening (local time).

Mascherano stated on Wednesday that Messi’s involvement in the match would be determined on game day. “We’ll decide whether he starts or comes off the bench later, depending on what’s best for the team,” he explained. If Messi takes the field, it will mark a new milestone in his career—while he has previously played against the Jamaican national team, he has never competed on Jamaican soil.

The coach also confirmed that Messi has resumed training with the squad, reporting positive impressions of his performance. After being given a break, the 37-year-old missed three matches but returned to the bench during Sunday’s game against Charlotte FC.

In the first leg of the round of 16, Miami secured a 2-0 victory at home without Messi. For the return leg, a packed crowd of 35,000 fans is anticipated at the National Stadium in Kingston.
