Among the evening’s honorees were Mariah Carey (55), Lady Gaga (38), and Nelly (50), each receiving distinguished accolades. Carey was presented with the Icon Award, Gaga received the Innovator Award, and Nelly was honored with the Landmark Award. Rising star Gracie Abrams (25) was named Breakthrough Artist of the Year.
Dressed in an elegant black evening gown, Carey took the stage to accept her Icon Award, calling it an “incredible honor.” In an emotional speech, she paid tribute to her late mother, Patricia Carey, who passed away in August 2024. “On this St. Patrick’s Day, I want to honor my mother for giving me the gift of music,” she expressed. Carey also lost her sister the same month, making the tribute especially poignant.
Taylor Swift Dominates with Eight Awards
Taylor Swift (35) emerged as one of the night’s biggest winners, securing eight out of her ten nominations, including Artist of the Year and Tour of the Century. Though unable to attend the ceremony in person, Swift delivered a heartfelt video message. Reflecting on her record-breaking Eras Tour, she described it as “the biggest challenge I’ve ever taken on,” noting its demanding 3.5-hour runtime and extensive schedule. She credited her fans for their unwavering support and dedication. A special clip from the tour’s opening night was also showcased during the event.
Billie Eilish (23) and her brother Finneas (27) received the Pop Album of the Year award for their project Hit Me Hard and Soft.
LL Cool J Returns as Host
The iHeartRadio Music Awards recognize the most-played artists and songs across iHeartRadio stations and its digital platforms, while also offering a glimpse into the anticipated hits of 2025. Hosting the ceremony for the second time, legendary rapper LL Cool J (57) led the evening’s celebrations, adding his signature charisma to the event.
