U.S. President Donald Trump has unleashed a scathing attack on actor George Clooney, labeling him a “second-rate movie star” and a “failed political commentator” in a Truth Social post. Trump’s outburst came after Clooney’s recent interview on CBS’s 60 Minutes, where the actor shared his critical views on former President Joe Biden’s 2024 campaign.

In the interview, Clooney, a well-known Democrat, reiterated his stance from a New York Times op-ed earlier this year, calling for Biden to step aside in the upcoming election. Clooney, who has supported Biden in the past, expressed surprise after meeting him at a fundraising event, which led him to openly criticize Biden’s campaign and the lack of resolve within the Democratic Party.

Trump wasted no time responding, accusing Clooney of “dumping Biden like a dog” after previously supporting him, and dismissing the interview as a “pure PR stunt.” He also took aim at 60 Minutes, claiming the show had a history of biased reporting, particularly referring to its controversial 2020 interview with Vice President Kamala Harris.

The two have had a long-running feud, with Trump previously mocking Clooney as a “fake movie star” and advising the actor to steer clear of politics. Clooney also touched on the importance of press freedom during the interview, drawing parallels to his role as Edward R. Murrow in Good Night, and Good Luck, and criticizing government actions against critical journalism.
