Germany’s rap queen isn’t mincing words! Chart-topping artist Shirin David is known for hits like Bauch Beine Po. She has taken a firm stand against the rising influence of the Alternative for Germany (AfD).

In a candid interview with Stern magazine, the Berlin-based singer expressed deep concern over the party’s growing support, stating:

“I completely reject the AfD—both as an artist and as a person. My music and my values stand for equality, self-empowerment, democracy, and freedom of speech. Seeing what’s happening right now is truly heartbreaking.”

A Troubling Trend in German Politics

Recent polls show that the AfD is gaining traction. This party has segments officially classified as far-right extremist. They are now surpassing 20% in voter support. This surge has left David feeling uneasy:

“The fact that so many people are backing them? It makes me sick.”

Beyond her political stance, David also addressed the need for stronger female representation in leadership roles. She believes in merit over quotas. She noted that some of the most capable professionals she collaborates with are women.

“Competence should always be the deciding factor. I don’t support forcing diversity just for the sake of it, but we need more skilled women in decision-making positions.”

David is one of Germany’s most influential pop artists. His words carry weight. This is especially true at a time when political awareness in the entertainment industry is more crucial than ever.
