The UAE has launched the Blue Visa. This is a groundbreaking 10-year residency program. It is designed to recognize and reward individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to protecting the environment. An announcement took place during the World Governments Summit 2025 in Dubai (February 11–13). This initiative is a collaborative effort. The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment is involved. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) is also involved.

A Vision for a Greener Future
The Blue Visa is more than just a residency permit. It’s a testament to the UAE’s dedication to fostering a sustainable future. As Dr. Amna Bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, explained in an interview. She spoke with Emirates News Agency (WAM). The program seeks to harness the expertise. It builds on the achievements of environmental leaders. This supports the UAE’s ambitious sustainability goals. “This initiative is a step toward building a greener, more resilient future for the UAE and the world,” she stated.

Who Can Apply?
The first phase of the Blue Visa program will honor 20 trailblazers in sustainability. These include innovators, researchers, corporate leaders, and members of international organizations and NGOs. Eligibility is for individuals who have significantly contributed to environmental protection. This includes groundbreaking research, impactful projects, or global recognition for their work. Applicants can either apply directly through the ICP’s online platform or be nominated by UAE government entities.

We are enhancing a legacy. We are also fostering innovation.
