NASA astronaut Sunita (Suni) Williams views her prolonged stay in space as a chance to share her experiences in ways she wouldn’t have on a shorter mission. In an interview with CBS, the BBC’s US partner, she described the unexpected delay as an “opportunity” rather than a setback.
Williams originally arrived at the International Space Station on June 5, 2024. However, her return, initially scheduled months earlier, has been postponed until March 19. Along with her crewmate, Butch Williams, she will now spend an additional nine months in space before heading back to Earth.
