Apple has kicked off the new week with a series of minor but crucial software updates, ahead of the anticipated iOS 18.4 beta 1 release. The company rolled out iOS 18.3.1, macOS 15.3.1, watchOS 11.3.1, and visionOS 2.3.1 on Monday evening, addressing key security vulnerabilities and bug fixes.

Security and Bug Fixes for All Users

According to Apple’s release notes, these updates include “important bug fixes and security updates that are recommended for all users.” The recent iOS 18.3 update introduced several enhancements to Apple Intelligence, and now iOS 18.3.1 aims to patch security loopholes and refine system stability.

A notable fix in iOS 18.3.1 and iPadOS 18.3.1 addresses a vulnerability that allowed attackers to disable USB port protection. However, exploiting this flaw required physical access to the device. Apple has acknowledged that this security hole had been actively used in targeted attacks.

Additionally, Apple has released smaller updates for iOS 17, macOS 14, and macOS 13, indicating that some of these vulnerabilities might have existed in earlier versions of its operating systems.

The Wait for iOS 18.4 Continues

Despite the release of these updates, there was no sign of iOS 18.4 beta 1 on Monday evening. This update is highly anticipated, especially among EU users, as it is expected to introduce Apple Intelligence features to the region. Moreover, it is set to bring German language support when fully rolled out in April.

One major question remains: Will Apple’s AI features be fully available to EU users, or will certain functionalities be limited due to regulatory concerns? Apple has yet to clarify whether its AI-driven enhancements for Siri, announced at WWDC 2024, will be accessible without restrictions in Europe.

For users worldwide, iOS 18.4 is expected to deliver the first set of AI-powered improvements to Siri. While Apple has been gradually enhancing its AI ecosystem, these advancements have not yet been integrated into existing devices.

As Apple continues refining its software with security patches and new features, all users are encouraged to update their devices to the latest versions to ensure optimal security and performance.
